Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Gayle Davis-Culp serves as the new Senior Pastor of
Holy Trinity A.M.E., Long Beach and has served as the Senior Pastor of the Holy
Trinity A.M.E. Church, Palmdale. Under her leadership at Palmdale, the church
fed the homeless; gave scholarships to member high school graduates, and
reaching beyond the walls to include some students who were not members of the
church; contributed to missions in Africa; contributed benevolent offerings to
those in need; bought a 24-passenger bus; and participated in local and area
Missionary and YPD programs, sending youth to camp and other church activities.
Rev. Davis-Culp, an ordained elder in the A.M.E. Church, holds a Master's degree
in English, has completed all but her dissertation for her PhD, and has
completed twenty units toward a Master of Divinity at Claremont Theological
Seminary. Rev. Davis-Culp has served as an English Professor at Santa Monica
College for over ten years and currently serves as Director of the TRIO program
at Santa Monica College. Before coming to Santa Monica, she served as Chair of
English, Speech, Reading and Developmental Math at Compton College; taught
English and Multicultural Studies at Sonoma State University; was the Assistant
Director of the Honors Program at Arizona State University, as well as taught in
the English Department. Rev. Davis-Culp lived in Cameroon, West Africa for
almost two years, where she lectured at the University of Yaounde and taught
English as a Second Language for USAID. Hailing from the south, Rev. Davis-Culp
taught at Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge) and Midwestern State
University, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Rev. Davis-Culp has preached at churches in Southern California, in Northern
California, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Texas. She will be conducting a
revival in Mississippi in May, 2003.
Rev. Davis-Culp is the wife of Jerry Culp, and they have two wonderful children,
Jeremy and Marissa.
