The Triname Computer and Technology Center
Holy Trinity A.M.E. Church as has begun its journey
into the Information Age.
Holy Trinity A.M.E. recognizes the need for children to not only be prepared
spiritually for the world, but also to have the ability to compete mentally and
economically. The best way to ensure that children will learn and retain skills;
that will help them compete for future jobs and careers is to keep them informed
about the technology of today. Computers are an area of our current society that
are growing constantly, but rarely understood, by those who are computer
illiterate.

Holy Trinity A.M.E. Church has sought out organizations that believe in the
same philosophy; that children should obtain computers skills at an early age to
help close the digital divide (the difference between the computer literate and
computer illiterate). Computers can be an asset in the area of educational
advancement. Many people who live in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods
find it difficult or impossible to afford the cost of a personal computer for
their household.
The PowerUP Organization and Break Away Technologies have help to ease this
concern. These two organizations have been beneficial in helping to create The
Triname Computer and Technology Center, which is located inside of Holy Trinity
A.M.E. The Center houses ten computers which were donated by the PowerUP
organization and networked by Break Away Technologies. The Center provides
computer lessons and an after school program for school aged children who are
members of our church and children in the surrounding community.

We provide typing lessons, Microsoft Office education, Internet and email
proficiency, a Reading program, Tutoring, Arts and Crafts and a Money lab that
teaches children the value of money; how its earned, and how to budget and save
it wisely. All of the computers have such programs as Microsoft Office 2000, MS
Publisher, MS FrontPage, The Microsoft Encarta Series, (Africana, Researcher,
Library, Bookshelf, Encyclopedia, and Dictionary). Creative Writer, The Magic
School Bus series and a high speed DSL Internet Access hosted by America On-Line
(AOL). The Triname Computer and Technology Center is open 5 days a week
Monday-Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Triname Computer and Technology Center also offers classes to Adults.
